Beautiful Waiheke
Waiheke is a beautiful island in the Hauraki
Gulf. The island is 26 kms long and 19 kms across. It has become one of New
Zealand’s most popular wedding destinations.
Waiheke is affectionately
known by the locals as “The Rock”. It has lovely beaches, great fishing, an
abundance of native bird life and many vineyards with lovely world class
restaurants attached.
Waiheke has a population of 8,500 people, mostly
situated on the western end of the island. The Eastern end is planted mainly in
grapes and olive trees. In addition there is some sheep and cattle
farming.
